About BrasilBusiness
We are a desk based in Rio de Janeiro, working both directions of trade with Brazil, with a partner network of licensed professionals for the parts of the work that legally require one.
Who we are
We are a desk in Rio de Janeiro that runs both directions of trade with Brazil: helping a foreign company sell its product into Brazil, and helping a foreign buyer source Brazilian commodities. We do not run both sides of any single deal, and we keep the two service lines separate the way the site keeps the two content branches separate.
Our team is on the ground in Rio de Janeiro and works in English and Portuguese. The Brazilian side of the work, registrations, filings, contract review, supplier checks, happens in Portuguese, against Portuguese-language registries and legal texts, and comes back to you in the language you started in.
The partner network
Some steps in either direction legally require a licensed professional to sign off, and we do not pretend otherwise or route around it. For those steps we work with a partner network:
- A Brazilian lawyer, registered with the OAB (Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil), for company formation, contract review and legal questions.
- An accountant, registered with the CRC (Conselho Regional de Contabilidade), for bookkeeping, tax filing and a Brazilian company's ongoing obligations.
- A licensed customs broker (despachante aduaneiro), for customs clearance and import or export paperwork at the port.
- On sourcing, independent, licensed inspection companies, for pre-shipment inspection. We coordinate the booking; the inspection company performs the check and issues the certificate under its own name.
We name the roles rather than specific people or licence numbers for now; that detail is being added to the site as it is confirmed.
Principles we hold to
- Every number is sourced and dated. A rate, a threshold or a deadline on this site carries the act behind it and the day it was checked. Where there is no reliable figure, the page says "no data" rather than filling the gap with a plausible-sounding range.
- We separate the two directions of trade. Importing into Brazil and sourcing from Brazil run on different rules, different registries and different risks. A page or a service built for one is not quietly repurposed for the other.
- We are independent on sourcing. When you buy from Brazil through us, we do not take a position in the cargo and we do not sell you the goods. That is what lets us tell a client to walk away from a deal rather than push it through for a margin.
- We say what we do not know. Where a primary source could not be confirmed, we say so in the text rather than only in a footnote, and we mark a secondary source as secondary in the body of the page.
What we do not do
We do not guarantee a regulatory approval, an "approved in X days" timeline, or a sale. We do not hold or move client money on either branch, and we do not issue inspection certificates or perform customs clearance ourselves, both of which stay with the licensed partner whose job that legally is. We do not give personal financial advice, and we do not work on cross-border payment routes that bypass the banking system.
Where we operate
Rio de Janeiro, working across Brazil through the partner network above. Clients reach us from anywhere; the checks, registrations and inspections we coordinate happen where the goods, the company or the plant actually are.
Frequently asked questions
Where are you based?
Rio de Janeiro, working in person with suppliers, factories, shipments and the registration process, not from a catalogue or a remote desk in another country.
Do you work in Portuguese?
Yes, and this matters more than it sounds. The Brazilian side of any deal, registration or verification runs in Portuguese, against Portuguese-language registries and acts, and we do that work directly rather than through a translator layer.
Who actually does the licensed work, like company formation or customs clearance?
A partner network of licensed professionals: a Brazilian lawyer registered with the OAB for legal work, an accountant registered with the CRC for bookkeeping and tax filing, and a licensed customs broker (despachante aduaneiro) for clearance. Each does their part under their own licence.
Do you have case studies or client names you can share?
Not yet. We would rather say that plainly than invent one. What we do show is how every figure on this site is sourced and dated, which you can check yourself against the primary act, and sample reports built from public data on the services pages once they are published.
