Brazil trade rules: what changed
Every rate and rule on this site carries the date it was checked. This is the log behind that: what changed, when, under which act, and which page it touches.
Newest first. Each entry links to the page or pages it affects.
01.10.2026: New central bank rules for international payment services (eFX)
Resolução BCB 561, of 30 April 2026, came into force on 1 October 2026. It rewrites the part of Resolução BCB 277 that governs international payment and transfer services (eFX): who may provide them, how the provider settles with its counterparty abroad, and how reais are paid in and out. Providers already authorised by the central bank must register the service by 30 October 2026. The articles on exchange contracts, settlement periods and non-resident accounts cited on this site did not change; the article text on that page was rechecked against the central bank's consolidated version on 7 October 2026. Affects: getting paid in Brazil.
25.09.2026: Two free PDF checklists published
Two free PDF checklists published: the Brazil import readiness pack and the Brazilian supplier due diligence pack.
24.09.2026: New sourcing verticals: sugar, pork, ornamental stone
Added three new commodity verticals to the Sourcing from Brazil branch, each with a verifying-the-exporter page, a quality/standards page and a market-data page: sugar (with the ICUMSA 45 misconception addressed directly), pork (reusing the beef and poultry SIF framework) and ornamental stone (with the marble-sold-as-quartzite misidentification risk and the tests to check for it). Also added using a sourcing agent in Brazil, Brazil trade fairs for commodity buyers and getting samples and trial orders from Brazil. Vertical selection was made from a ComexStat pull across nine candidates, documented in the project's internal selection notes, and reviewed before the vertical pages were written.
24.09.2026: Site corrections: Siscomex fee, RJ import ICMS, RADAR
Fixed three errors found in a 23 September 2026 fact reconciliation: the Siscomex fee is charged per adição (addition), not per item; Rio de Janeiro's import ICMS is 16% + 2% FECP = 18%, not 20% + 2% = 22%, which is the internal sales rate; and RADAR Ilimitada is assigned automatically once the estimate exceeds USD 150,000, with no separate track-record requirement. Affects: import taxes, ICMS by state, RADAR and Siscomex.
10.09.2026: Remessa Conforme: MP converted into law
Medida Provisória 1.357/2026, which zeroed the import tax on consignments up to US$ 50 under Programa Remessa Conforme, was converted into Lei 15.502/2026. The new law also lets the minister cut the rate to as low as 30% for consignments up to US$ 3,000; as of 24 September 2026 no such act exists, so the rate in force stays at 0% up to US$ 50 and 60% with a US$ 30 deduction above it. Affects: what EU-Mercosur does not change, distribution channels.
31.08.2026: Foreign-trade habilitação lookup moved to Portal Único
The RADAR/Siscomex habilitação check moved off its old page to Portal Único, Cadastro de Intervenientes, Habilitação; the old page is due to switch off 30 September 2026. Not independently reconfirmed live for this entry. Affects: RADAR and Siscomex.

03.08.2026: IBS/CBS fields made mandatory in e-invoices
IBS/CBS fields became mandatory in Brazilian e-invoices under CGIBS and Ato Técnico Conjunto 01/2026; automatic rejection for missing fields was postponed, clarified 6 August 2026.
03.07.2026: Ex-Tarifário Ex 063 revoked

Frequently asked questions
How often is this updated?
When a rule changes that affects a page on this site, not on a fixed schedule. If you need a guarantee that nothing has moved since your last visit, check the Rates verified date on the specific page you are relying on.
Why publish a 'site corrections' entry about your own mistakes?
Because the alternative is quietly fixing an error and hoping nobody notices the old number was wrong. Every figure on this site is dated so a reader can tell current from stale; a correction is the same principle applied to our own past pages.
